The installation ״Time Zones״ was created as a fictional “archaeological museum” for the Tel Aviv Biennale of Crafts and Design 2023. It presents to the viewer vestiges of the past from the perspective of a distant future, a viewpoint which blurs the distinctions between different eras and cultures.

The installation includes a series of my photographs of ancient utensils I found in my parents’ home, most of the them taken from the depths of the sea. Displayed above them are two landscape photographs interwoven with relics from civilizations on the verge of sinking into the ocean.  Using digital image processing, the artifacts underwent a variety of “mutations” and then cut out and displayed in 3D in glass-fronted black cabinets.

The complete absence of any human dimension in this “afterworld” raises the question: Who is the one left to observe it?
